Having a single story on other people makes it easier for a bully to discriminate against or harm others. Human rights are rights inherent to all human beings, whatever our nationality, place of residence, sex, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, language, or any other status. Everyone is diverse and, many times, people only keep one perspective on a person they see rather than getting to know more. One article discusses the topic of violating human rights; “To violate the most basic human rights is to deny individuals their fundamental moral entitlements. It is, in a sense, to treat them as if they are less than human and undeserving of respect and dignity” (Human Rights Violations). In the book Persepolis, the main character, Marji, believed that she had a right to wear what she wanted, say what she wanted and have a sense of privacy. However, she could not express herself because she was seen as a ‘wrong’ image to the Iranian government.
